Executive Chef - Jason Gower

Executive Chef Jason Gower is no stranger to hard work. His passion for cooking began in high school, where completing a home economics class with the highest mark of 100 per cent was his springboard into the world of culinary arts. Today, he is a talented industry professional with more than 17 years experience, and has developed a penchant for weaving distinctive Canadian ingredients into his seasonal menus.

Equipped with a strong work ethic that he acquired from his father, Chef Gower graduated from Canadore College in North Bay, Ontario in 1991, specializing in culinary management and hotel management. Later that year, he began his career as second cook at what is now The Fairmont Algonquin in St. Andrews, New Brunswick.

Since 1994, Chef Gower has worked at Delta Hotels across Canada, including: Delta Lodge at Kananaskis, Alberta, Delta Prince Edward on Prince Edward Island, Delta Bessborough in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and most recently at Delta Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Chef Gower has presided over many memorable gatherings during his career — from hosting the Cuisine Canada conference in 2006, to intimate dinners for international societies devoted to fine dining such as La Châine des Rôtisseurs and Skål International, to grand occasions such as the Royal Visit of Prince Edward and Princess Sophie.

Now as Delta Fredericton’s executive chef, he oversees the 222-room hotel’s food and beverage operations, including the 180-seat Bruno’s restaurant, The Dip Pool Bar & Grill patio, D.J. Purdy’s lounge and In-Room Dining, as well as banquet catering for over 18,500 square feet of meeting and convention space.

With an ever-growing repertoire of appealing ideas, Chef Gower plans to use fresh local produce to create new and wonderful dishes in his kitchen at Delta Fredericton.

Chef Gower enjoys entertaining and cooking alongside his wife, Alena – an accomplished chef in her own right. Both enjoy hiking, golfing, and skiing with their young son Aidan, daughter McKenzie and their Great Pyernees dog, Brady.
